Our Meetings Co-ordinator Mark Williams has put together an exciting programme of speakers for 2008/09. Here is the complete timetable:
A juvenile Purple Heron was reported on the electricity board scrape at Titchmarsh local nature reserve yesterday, Monday 10th Sept having first been seen on Sunday the 9th.
Today it was seen again at 2.35pm on the Tom Cox Scrape.
With positive news that the Purple Heron was still present I arranged to leave early from work & made my way over to the reserve car park in Aldwincle.
I arrived just before 4pm to meet a small group of local birdwatchers who had just seen the Purple Heron in flight a few minutes ago & were trying to re-locate the bird.
Attached is a link to Jeff Blincow's excellent Northants wildlife page, this is crammed full with a whole host of information on all aspects of natural history for the county.

The site provides a down-loadable checklist of the 309 or so birds that have been recorded in Northants so far & the list is still growing. Quite a few of the species on the predicted page have since turned up or been reported, namely Little Bunting, Cattle Egret, Glossy Ibis & Franklins Gull.
This is our current programme. All indoor meetings start at 7:30 at Moulton Sports Complex.

The bird club was formed over 20 years ago as a forum for birders in and around Northamptonshire. The little owl (Athene noctua) was adopted as the bird club`s emblem as it was introduced into Britain by Lord Lilford, a renowned local ornithologist in the 19th century.
The club holds meetings on the first Wednesday of each calendar month at 19:30 at Moulton Sports Complex, Pound Lane, Moulton, Northants. This is part of the Moulton School campus. Access is opposite the Telegraph pub on Pound Lane. Most indoor meetings consist of a talk and slide show, mostly about birds but we do try to have one meeting a year devoted to other wildlife.
